Re: Apply ROI

Robin, I'm experimenting with the select/apply ROI as a work method for an earlier feature request for planetary imaging automatic ROI selection (I think that was in the feature request forum). So far so good... I manually select a small ROI around Venus and apply it. This gives some random sized sm...

Re: SN2023ixf in M101

This might save people a few minutes work...

If you want to annotate your M101 images with the SN as a custom object then copy this string and paste it using the button in the Deep Sky Annotation tool

Live stack re-centering using ROI move

Robin, When Live Stacking and NOT 'real' guiding you have an option to plate solve and recentre after a certain amount of pixel drift. This is only currently by moving the mount. Tonight I'm imaging M101 again and just have an ROI of 1600x1600 from my ZWO1600MM camera (to limit file sizes and avoid ...

SN2023ixf in M101

I'm always amazed at how well SharpCap can perform when live stacking and filtering :D Last night I wanted to try and capture the new supernova in M101 but after setting up and framing/focus the clouds rolled in as usual for UK based astronomy! Having nothing to lose I left the rig turned on and all...

Re: Histogram spike when Feature Tracking

Thanks Robin, After posting my question I was coming to the same conclusion that the historgram was showing the pixels used to draw the cross. As you say it does not affect the saved frames in any way. I guess the follow on question is why the cross is flickering between frames i.e. a good proportio...

Histogram spike when Feature Tracking

Robin, I've noticed that when Feature Tracking (Camera ROI/Centrer of Mass on Venus) I get a strange spike in the histogram curve at about 68%. It is not always there and flicks in and out every few seconds. If I stop feature tracking then the histogram is normal. Screen shots attached during tracki...

Capture save banner

Robin, At the end of a capture you show a green banner with the duration, fps and link to the file/folder. Could you also include the file size of what has just been saved ? When imaging with a fairly full disk it's useful to have a reminder right there of what you are using up with each capture set...

Planetary ROI

Sorry in advance if I'm missing some obvious way to do this already in SharpCap. I am imaging Venus with a large sensor camera (ZWO 1600MM) but only want to capture a small ROI (240x240) to get fast frame rate and reduce storage size on disk. At present I get Venus roughly in the centre 50% or so of...

Pause/Resume label

Robin, the other day during solar imaging I was using the Pause button to avoid saving frames while clouds were passing. I found the operation of this a little counter-intuitive :- You press Pause but the button still says Pause, the only confirmation is to look at the bottom of the screen to see th...

Re: Asteroid 7482

Robin, I was hoping you would say that was a relatively easy option to add :-) Certainly the imaging of JWST I did the other week I was processing in DSS maximum stack in most cases. Even if you are not going to use SC for the final processed image I find that the Livestack is the best tool to locat...
