Re: ARP299 deep sky project
Yes, indeed. Here an example. I am busy with capturing M106 in multi narrowband (around 11 hours of data now) and there is a small patch in view littered with galaxies. This is heavily stretched to show it. On the left is NGC 4248 and in this whole FOV (around 14' 24" x 07' 14") are 6 gala...

Re: Screen Suddenly Goes White
I have the same with my Zwo camera when I move the slider too fast: the screen seems to get stuck and indeed only restarting SC solves it.
Maybe the same goes for you?

Re: ARP299 deep sky project
Thanks Tim. That quasar actually really is in the blue, one of the few real blue objects in the capture. Used Photometric Color Calibration in Siril. Had to look this up and it's no Blue Shift: most quasars are somewhat blue-ish (this one just plain blue :) ) or red-ish. The red though they suspect ...

Re: ARP299 deep sky project
Brian Thanks for that link. Seems I have a lot of ARP's to catch ;) I did a quick search in Aladin on distances of those fast movers but no information on that. What is interesting though is that a lot are combined with a infrared source (not meaning Red Shift here), there where the non-movers have ...

Tim
That looks mighty fine indeed!
When I started a year ago with a color camera, I was told that although that works fine, somewhere in the future I would go for mono.
And I thought "Yeah sure, right" ... but now I understand what people ment

ARP299 deep sky project
I forgot about this one: my ARP299 / NGC3690 deeps sky project is finished :) In total it's a bit over 8 hours of data, captured over roughly 2 months (yes, the amount of clear skies was/is terrible here :( ). The focus really is into the deep, so as a result the object itself is rather noisy but th...

Re: M81 and the Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN)
.... EDIT: Menno, use the Brain with the IFN. Use the equivalent of "extremely intolerant of noise". Capture a single frame. Sample the ADU of the sky in that image. Write it down. I'm curious to know the ADU level. Capture an hour, and process. If you don't see the IFN, I suggest raising...

Re: M81 and the Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN)
Brian If you say "extremely intolerant of noise", do you mean that when using the Smart Histogram Brain, you would enter a SNR of 1% ? But the new Brain in the Beta SC gives new "challenges" with the added features. I did try that with the option for "darkest" (so, sayi...

Re: M81 and the Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN)
Very cool Brian!! Clear description too and good result! Here still waiting for clear skies which will happen in ... oh, just did see maybe in 4 days :) Decided also to go for bin 2 or 3. Stars will get somewhat bloated then but that doesn't matter in this case. Btw I found a cool survey/overlay in ...
