Re: Mosaics from Live Stack

Great captures!!
And thanks for the Microsoft ICE (Image Composite Editor) notice, gonna give that a try! I did try some mosaics but having a hard time with the seams. With moon mosaics I there are not problems, but DSO always fails.

Re: SharpCap Captures Folder Taking Up Huge Amount of Space

I am with Dave on this one. Video files can take up a lot of space so, that 196 Gb is not that much. For me a moon session is typically done with the Zwo ASI385MC camera on 120 fps and will result in around 200 to 300 Gb of SER files. It also depends on the resolution you have: if I capture with my ...

Re: An Oldie but Goodie: NGC7635 The Bubble Nebula

You are correct of course ... I did mix up the L-Extreme and L-eNhance which I mentioned and have  Plus I didn't know that that region is so Ha heavy. Here still in doubt if I will go for the L-Extreme. I have the L-eNhance which is Ha, Hb and OII 24nm and I am in doubt if the Extreme with 7nm...

Re: M1 The Crab Nebula (180 sec f/7 unguided)

Thanks V.P and Bruce! And Tim, I think you just hit the nail on it's head: I am indeed a human OAG! It's a good description of what I do but instead of moving the mount, I alter the tracking rate. With only a big difference: once I am dialed into the right settings, almost no check is needed a...

Re: An Oldie but Goodie: NGC7635 The Bubble Nebula

Very nice!! It's on my to-do list (of course) and then also with the L-eNhance. About the image: I suspect there is more in it, the red is very dominant? With captures I did with the L-eNhance, there was more color in it. Could you share the stacked FITS or TIF with WeTransfer or something like that...

Re: M1 The Crab Nebula (180 sec f/7 unguided)

Hi Tim Yes, the colors were a challenge. I did do an image search and colors are all over the place :) But I got these colors maybe cause of the broad narrowband Optolong L-Pro filter. I took some fiddling in Photoshop though to get them all showing. About the mount: I have the CEM25EC and that has ...

Re: zwo 174 MC pro will not take exposure longer than 99.9 seconds

Hi

No, 300 sec is max for me since I am in Bortle7/8. Longer exposures are really giving LP problems. But I see no reason why it wouldn't go past 300.

Re: zwo 174 MC pro will not take exposure longer than 99.9 seconds

Hi I have the 294MC Pro and I got up to 300 seconds with that one, so working here. About the Zwo ASI174 MC Cool ... the specs say it goes to max 1000 sec. Also, are you using Ascom or Zwo drivers with SharpCap and Firecapture? I remember somewhere reading about the ASI174 having some issues with As...

Re: narrowband filter effect on focusing and plate solving

I think it's the same principle. But a bright star of mag 2 will not have much trouble with the L-Extreme.
Having said that, I've never used the focus functions of SharpCap. I use a Bahtinov mask and the Bahtinov Grabber software for focussing.

Re: M1 Crab Nebula expansion in 69 years (video)

Thanks Robin! And yes, that change I also did find surprising. So did some calculations: M1 is at 4900 / 8100 light years (sources differ on that info) so it sort of in the neighborhood and therefor changes are more noticeable. It's expansion is around 1500 km/sec (930 miles/sec) which means that in...
