Re: Plate solving?

This topic has been aired on SC forum many time, and ive learned a lot but im not an expert. Permit me to give some pointers. I have a C11 on EQ8 controlled by EQMOD through PC direct mode. The mount has been polar aligned via SC tool. I find that a plate solve will add RA/DEC to FITS headers, so th...

Re: GPS status window

Robin, Re: GPS status window lost on minimising It looks like my W10 system is not behaving very well (although fine in all other respects). I installed V4.0 beta (64bit) and compared to V3.2 (16bit) both on my W7 computer and both work correctly as you have described. So i will draw a line under th...

Re: GPS status window

Hi Robin, I looked on my system (W10Pro) but i don't see what you see. So its well hidden. In the GPS section of Camera Control Panel there is a [Show Data] on/off but this doesn't seem to do anything. Im not sure if this is relevant. For the time being i will be careful not to minimise or close the...

GPS status window

If i minimise or close the GPS Status window (QHY174m-GPS) the widow disappears, and there doesnt seem to be a way to display it without closing and restarting the camera. The window doesnt drop into the taskbar and there is no re-activation in the Camera Control Panel that i can see. Is this normal...

Re: 64 bit vs 32 bit / QHY174-GPS

Related topic, but I was wondering about this as well regarding dropped frames in QHY174-GPS. I have W10Pro i5 8GB and SSD. At 50fps i get a regular pattern of dropped frames in SER mode (3 ever 53 frames), getting worse as the frame rate goes up. CPU is arround 25% In this thread Robin, you say abo...

Re: Plate solving - which solver ?

I'm posting a reply here as i dont seem to be able create a new topic, but the subject is similar. I believe I have plate solving working now. In the process of testing I have two solvers installed. All SkyPlate Solver (ASPS) and Astrometry.net Local Server which has ansvr. Both apps have there own ...

Re: QHY174m-GPS Non standard FITS keywords

Sorry for the delay in answering. I contacted Fabio at AstroArt on the off chance that AA could do it. AA will not change Key words (only the value), but Fabio found a way with Find-and-Replace (v1.8.1) a free tool that can be downloaded. This changed the keyword GPS_Tmp# in the FITS (I put in GPS_T...

Re: Alternative Plate Solver

Hi All, I have Astrotortilla and ASTAP installed. ASTAP works well as stand-alone so im trying to get it to run in SC. Im using SkyMap and ASCOM simulator and the simulator is working. SC takes a while to solve but when it does, the telescope position is not updated? (using the M42 image). Is this e...

Re: QHY174m-GPS Non standard FITS keywords

Hi Christian, Thanks for trying that. I looked at PIPP user manual, but is not useful in this regard. Shame Pixinsight gives an unexpected result. It would have been handy. The next step could be to contact HOPS development group indicated by Robin, but im still hoping there is another way to rescue...
