Re: Still struggling with some settings...

Hi Gottfried, Thats a good image with a 60mm refractor and LPR filter. The gain of 400 is rather high (My range is 50 to 480). I would try 300. Not sure why USB speed is set to 100. I use a value of 1 or zero, however i dont think it will effect long exposures - but worth checking that. Your camera ...

Re: Start video or sequence at a given time.

Thanks Robin, The command worked fine. The sequence is now

SEQUENCE
PROMPT FOR TARGET
WAIT UNTIL LOCALTIME 12:20
CAPTURE START
DELAY 240
CAPTURE STOP
PLAY SOUND Alert
END SEQUENCE

Re: Start video or sequence at a given time.

I tried this sequence with the camera simulated. Is there there a better way? The frame rate was 1.9 fps and not the 3fps expected. To have to enter two times is not ideal. In a real situation i would load a config file and leave out the SET commands. Im assuming the loaded configuration will be use...

Re: Start video or sequence at a given time.

Hello, I have been playing with V4.0.8395 advanced sequencer, and i was hoping to see a Start capture at <Time>. There is a stop, but no start. I would use this to schedule a video for occultation observations. If this was available I could set up the telescope to record unattended, and allow me to ...

Re: Bad focal in fits header and platesolve

I have the FL set in ASPS and to ignore any FITS header info (..also set to Do-Not-Use in SC). Is there a recommended way of setting the FL? Just so that im sure i have the best arrangement. (No problems so far)
Thanks very much.

Re: plate solve and sqm 17

Hello Alberto, I am following this discussion with interest. Im not sure i can be much help at this stage but i would like some clarification on your set-up. In your messages it sounds like you are using the SynScan controller and Stellarium/ASCOMdriver ? When you have done an initial 1-star alignme...

Re: No GOTO after platesolve and sync

Hi.....What i would like to know is how to access the log file shown in this thread, as it contains a lot of useful info. My plate solve/sync works, but is off-center by 5' in RA. However my polar alignment was improved recently with the SC tool, (was 4' now 30") so this might have improved the...

Re: Picking the correct exposure for Deep Sky

Im sure the theory is good, but you were using a different camera with different characteristics on the Hyperstar ! Surely this might improve image quality alone ? Yep im still learning...

Re: occultation recording with SharpCap

Hello Markus, I would like to add to your request for an on-the-fly Signal/Noise ration (SNR) indicator in Sharpcap, as this would be helpful for timing events like this. From experience a SNR of 4 to 5 would be sufficient in stable seeing conditions. The exposure needed will depend on the telescope...
