Re: Different polar align result on the opposite side of the mount

I had better results last night. On the Losmandy mount I was releasing the RA axis and swinging it manually and then locking it down. I noticed the reading could change depending on how tightly I turned the clutch knob. When I instead tightened the clutch to start and used the motors to slew to +/- ...

Re: Different polar align result on the opposite side of the mount

I am using the main C8 with Hyperstar to polar align so flexure probably isnt a problem but perhaps main mirror movement could cause a shift. I asked this on Cloudy Nights and some people only go to 45 degrees on either side for the second movement and then go 45 on the other side to check. I will t...

Different polar align result on the opposite side of the mount

I have a Celestron 8se and ZWO 533 on a newer Losmandy G11. I have been using the Sharpcap polar align routine. I can go through the steps and get an excellent result but if I then swing my RA axis 180 degrees to the other side of the mount the result is reported as just fair or poor. I do suspect m...

Re: Exception handling in the stacking log

I had not seen that message until version 6298. Tonight I could not get the live stacking to work correctly.I was only getting 1 or 2 out of every 10 frames to stack and was getting that same exception handling message. I gave up and removed the latest code and went back to 6281. The same target wit...

Re: Green predominance

I also have a 533 and recently had similar questions about using the camera with Sharpcap. Check these 2 threads. https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=2503 https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2491 Its normal for green to dominate as there are 2 times as many pixels with ...

Re: ZWO ASI533mc Bayer Pattern

I investigated the Bayer pattern further for the ZWO ASI533mc. I placed red electrical tape over the end of the sensor and did a screen capture to a fits file. Then did the same with blue tape. SharpCap was displaying the proper colors. I found that in both Fitswork and Pixinsight the Debayer patter...

ZWO ASI533mc Bayer Pattern

When I load my fits files into APP it says the bayer pattern is BGGR. The website for ZWO says its RGGB. Which is it and does it matter.

Also my dark and flat files do not have the exposure and gains in the headers so an error is displayed.

Re: Image Controls for Darks and Flats

Thanks that helps. I will redo my darks and flats with those settings. With the cap covering the camera for darks I tried adjusting the brightness and viewing the histogram. Here are the counts in RAW16 for different brightness levels for the ZWO ASI533 Brightness, Counts 0, 0 10, 384 20, 772 30, 11...
