Re: When starting SharpCap

Hi,

at least part of that would be becaue I forgot about this one, sorry :(

I have now tweaked the code so SharpCap will wait a short while for the focuser to report as connected - this will be in next week's update.

cheers,

Robin

Re: New Feature : Support for ASCOM Cover/Calibrator devices

Hi, thanks for the report - I think I just need to tweak the way that the buttons are enabled/disabled to allow for the 'unknown' position. The calibrator appearing in the 'NotReady' state is a bit worrying though - according to the ASCOM documentation, that state is supposed to be transient - it me...

Re: Passing parameters to Python scripts from sequences

Hi, Ok, I start to see the picture. I will have to have a think about that, but for now I can make a suggestion of another place to 'smuggle' data from the sequencer to python that might work out... In the sequencer, use a SET CONTROL step to set the value of the Notes control - ie SET CONTROL Notes...

Re: Mini-Histogram Stretch Button

Hi, not a bad idea, but I would be tempted to put the buttons above/below the slider rather than both at the bottom if I did this. Are you aware that holding down the <SHIFT> key while dragging the colour adjustment sliders (and the other adjustments in the live stack histogram) reduces the speed of...

Re: Clarification needed for capturing Flat frames

Hi, light frames and dark frames need to be captured with the same gain, exposure and offset values to work together properly. Flat frames and dark flats need the same settings as each other, but do not need to be matched to the light/dark frames. That means you can use shorter exposures and lower g...

Re: Plate Solve & Sync

Hi, the first thing to check is the size of the error - the error caused by having the ASCOM driver incorrectly report J2000 will be up to about 8 minutes of arc (depends on the part of the sky you are looking at, but as of 2024, 8 is the maximum - by 2034 it will have increased to nearly 12 minutes...

Re: SC losing connection with focuser

Hi Matt, I saw the IO error entry in the log, but there wasn't any descriptive text to say what had caused it, it was hard to make much useful out of it. It sounds as though perhaps the connection is being lost somehow and then the ASCOM driver is not cleaning up properly when SharpCap disconnects a...

Re: CPWI crash/restart leaves SharpCap half working

Hi Chris,

yes, that would do the job - I'll look into it.

You mentioned above that the focuser also misbehaves after a CPWI reset - is it the same sort of problem that the position does not update?

cheers,

Robin

Re: Allow different +RA and -RA rates in Feature Tracking

Hi Mike, glad to hear that the calibration with the new option worked for you. Did you by any chance try the old way too (be interesting to find out if the mount rebuild helped that option or not)? For the chasing the seeing, I seem to recall from previous posts that you were keen on having the dead...

Re: Spurious hot pixel groupings occasionally appearing in some master darks

Hi Errol, sounds like a good plan. It is worth noting that even with matching temperature readings, the temperature sensor is only one point in the camera, so while the temperature readout may match, the actual temperature of the sensor may differ (or the temperature may vary across the sensor). Of ...
