Re: PC Spec

Hi, Ok, so there are a few things to check for the frame rate, which I will detail below. Unfortunately I don't have a ZWO ASI290 to test with, but I do have a couple of 290 based cameras from other manufacturers, and the frame rates I can hit at 800x800 are: USB2 : 46 USB3 : 158 Things to check: * ...

Re: Increase cpu load causing mount disconnect?

Hi Dave, well, good to hear that the CPU issue is fixed, shame about the disconnects still being there. I wonder if Windows logs anything useful about WIFI state changes (disconnect/reconnect) in the 'Event Viewer' logs? If it does then maybe you could see if there is any correlation between disconn...

Re: Defaults Profiles Etc.

Hi, Ok, so a couple of things to add... 1) The profile manager view of the content of the file is supposed to be read only, as there is no save functionality. I'd not noticed that it was editable, but will fix that. I would prefer read only as it discourages editing by hand - too easy to make a mist...

Re: URANUC-C Pro Image problem wit hardware binning 2x2

Hi, thanks for reporting - that sort of issue with the data within the image itself is almost certainly happening at a low level - in the camera itself or in the SDK rather than in SharpCap. I have just checked and there is an update from PlayerOne to SDK 3.7.1 (SharpCap has 3.7.0) which might help,...

Re: PC Spec

Hi, to a large extent, the spec you need depends on the sort of imaging that you plan to do. The ASI290 is a fairly small camera with only about 2 million pixels, so it doesn't need a particularly high spec PC, but as an example of the sort of considerations: * All sky camera - 1 frame per 15 to 30s...

Re: A new reticle to aid collimation

Hi Mike,

I popped some code together for this as it was pretty simple, so a first draft will be in next week's version - this is what you have at the moment.

Re: Live stack “save exactly as seen”

Hi, yes, there are definitely workarounds like post-cropping the image, but it's a reasonable request as some other software does 'autocrop' the stacked image to avoid the black borders. Actually it would be nice to change the algorithm to avoid the black border issue entirely, but that would slow d...

Re: Collimation aid in the planetary live stacker

Hi Mike, if you already have plate solving information, that gives the mapping between pixel location in the image and sky co-ordinates, which means that even with just one target in the field, you can recenter it because knowing it's current position lets you work out the pixel offset and therefore...

Re: Defaults Profiles Etc.

Hi, yes, as suggested above, PIPP is the way to go (I had to do it with 10000 png files). The created SER file may come out as a monochrome one and therefore require you to manually set the bayer pattern when processing, but should otherwise be fine. Loading of stored settings at camera startup goes...

Re: Capturing flat frames

Hi, that histogram in the screenshot is showing that all of the pixels on the camera are 100% saturated - ie the image is badly overexposed. What looks like a vertical axis on the right hand side is actually the peak in the histogram graph, and you can also see the numeric readouts of the mean of ea...
