Re: Interaction between FWHM and frame brightness estimates
Hi folks, yes, this is currently a problem - the code looks for stars in each frame, discards those that are too bright (near saturation) or too dim and then averages the FWHM measurement of the remaining ones to get the value. If the brightness changes then it might pick more, fewer or different st...

Re: Version 4.1 plate solving issues
Hi Trev, well, glad to hear that the plate solve is working now, but a bit of a mystery about the settings... What's supposed to happen is that the settings from 4.0 should automatically be brought over to 4.1 the first time you run 4.1 - after that the 4.1 and 4.0 settings are separate (apart from ...

Re: Camera Rotators
Hi, oddly, enabling the alt-az compensation function of a rotator isn't something that is possible via the ASCOM rotator specification. There's no way to ask the driver to turn that function on or off, and there's no way to ask the rotator to rotate at a specific speed, so you can't have SharpCap do...

Re: Import Settings
Hi Louis, glad to hear that it wasn't a problem - the reload is required to ensure that there aren't any parts of SharpCap that have loaded the old settings and then might keep using them after the import. I guess it would be possible to have a command line argument to load the settings (there isn't...

Re: New Feature : Moon Mosaic Planner
Hi Mike, I have a simulated camera that draws the current phase of the moon onto an image based on focal length, pixel size, co-ordinates, etc that I can use for testing - in that, it works with a 1920x1080 3.75 micron pixel camera at 2800mm, which is just a bit smaller than the 3840x2160x2 micron o...

Re: AllSky cameras (round 2)
Hi Peter,
yep, link all working now - a really good video, well done! Now all we need is to have a *proper* meteor storm - that would be an all-sky video worth having
cheers,
Robin

Aurora
Wow! After waiting over 30 years to see a naked-eye aurora, not only do we get one here in Oxfordshire, but it's naked-eye visible right at the zenith... None of this 'a bit of a glow on the northern horizon' lark. As well as getting outside and taking some photos with my phone camera, I had the all...

Re: Problem with livestacks - dark subtraction - in EEA
Hi, interesting that you use so many darks - I did some maths a week or two back to try to work out how many dark frames were actually needed to avoid them contributing to the overall final noise level. The preliminary results were interesting, but then I realised that I didn't account for how good ...

Re: Version 4.1 plate solving issues
Hi, the settings look pretty much fine, so it's a bit odd. The message about XYLIST ties in with not enough stars detected. I would suggest getting it working in 4.0, then use snapshot to save a frame with the same settings. Try the same in 4.1, also snapshot - now we have two images saved (one work...

Re: AllSky cameras (round 2)
Hi Peter, I'm guessing that is a link to an all-sky aurora capture :) (sadly the link doesn't work for me - just says 'this content isn't available at the moment'). I'd suggest trying your link from another browser where you aren't logged into facebook - you can then see the problem and tinker with ...
