Re: Questions on best use of Sensor Analysis

Hi Dan, the answer to your question (and the shape of the graph in the brain window) depends on the following * how bright is your sky background as seen by the camera - this depends on light pollution levels, filters, pixel size and scope f-ratio * how much read noise does your camera have. Optimum...

Re: how to get rid of GRID pattern on images ?

Hi, the Jupiter ones (with colour) just look like noise - stacking more frames or capturing at a lower gain (providing this does not push the exposure too long) can both help. The Saturn image looks like you have not debayered the RAW source video (no colour and a grid/chessboard pattern). Check the...

Re: Trying to do sensor analisis QHY10-C

Hi, I'm sorry to say that as far as I can tell the latest SDK updates from QHY do not support their 'classic' series of cameras like the 10C very well. From your logs I can see that the SDK is giving errors when starting exposures, either straight away when starting the camera or after a few frames....

Re: Polar align plus GOTO

Hi,

yes, although if you have got your polar alignment spot on and have also eliminated any cone error then even a 1 star align should be remarkably accurate ;)

cheers,

Robin

Re: Help needed for polar alignment please

Hi, depending on your initial pointing and how well/badly the guide scope is lined up with the mount axis, the field of view can change quite a bit when you rotate through 90 degrees. It might be that you just end up in an area of sky that is poor in stars by bad luck. It's even possible that the ro...

Re: Auto focusing using multiple stars

Hi, I guess to give a sense of scale to this, how many steps does it take for your focuser to go from clearly out of focus one side, through focus to clearly out of focus the other side? Your scan will do a total of 800 steps (50 x 16). If running through focus from one side to the other is 5000 ste...

Re: Auto Focus with overshoot

Hi, to further update, I have made changes that add an option to completely ignore any frames captured while the focuser is moving, which will address your first issue I think - that will be in next week's update. When you say you can't get HFD/FWHM to work right, can you explain in more detail? The...

Re: No Filter Wheel control with QHY268M

Hi, that sounds like correct procedure - all I can think of is to check that you have 12V power to the camera (but if not, then the wheel would probably not even spin). Also, you are looking in the 'Scope control' section of the controls, yes? If you enable 'Log camera hardware communicatin' in the ...

Re: Plate Solve Exposure Length

Hi, no, nothing like that built in (although you could build something using the sequencer and then have that sequence in your list of 'recent' sequences for easy access). I tend to always work in high gain short exposures for focus/plate solve and then switch to longer exposures for the actual imag...

Re: Flats w/Bias Frames Issue

Hi, can you send me a log (captured after the problem happens). I can't see anything obviously bad happen in testing here. The normal capture of flat or dark frames adds 1 extra frame to the number you specify (and throws away the first frame) just in case you were a bit quick in pressing 'go' and t...
