New Feature : Dark Frame Scaling
Hi folks, once again, a collaboration with @borodog (Mike) has helped forge a new SharpCap feature :) Dark frame scaling is designed to help in situations where the dark frames in use don't exactly match the conditions for the light frames. The most obvious reason this might happen is if you are usi...

Re: Goto catalog : mount stay black in step waiting to settle
Hi, the issue with the wrong target being centered does sound very much like the ASCOM driver for the mount ignoring the second GOTO movement request (but without raising an error). SharpCap assumes that the mount has done what it was told to do (unless an error is raised), so doesn't currently chec...

Re: Dithering Causing Dropped Frames
Hi Don, live stacking is supposed to ignore frames that are captured while the mount is dithering to avoid trailed star images getting into the stack, so if there is any error here it's that somehow the frames captured while dithering *are* being stacked. Having the filter brightness option turned o...

Re: Touptek Filter Wheel totally random
Hi, can you just confirm which exact version of SharpCap you are using? There is an issue in versions up to and including 4.1.12693 where SharpCap was sending the position to the filter wheel twice and the ToupTek filter wheel code did not behave well in that situation. It should be fixed in newer v...

Re: Need help with visualizing the sun :-)
Hi, just to add a few things... 1) The calculated field of view for your setup (485 camera, 8" SCT) is about 0.3 by 0.18 degrees - that's considerably less than the diameter of the sun (0.5 degrees). Adding a typical 0.67x reducer to the setup will increase the field of view 0.47x0.26 degrees -...

Re: SharpCap doesn't start
Hi, apart from trial-and-error (or trying another PC), it's tricky - I suppose we could try to capture a list of the DLLs loaded into the SharpCap.exe process and see if there is anything in the list that looks unusual (ie not normal Microsoft/Windows stuff, not stuff that SharpCap itself wants). We...

Re: Beginner Questions
Hi, Ah, OK, I understand now. That's actually deliberate as the settings in the right hand most tab apply to auto saving on closing or pressing the clear button only. The 'save and reset every <X> minutes' function saves in all formats. I don't want to change that behaviour as there will almost cert...

Re: Strange colors in my live stack image ?
Hi, can I just check that your dark frames are being captured with exactly the same settings as the light frames? The obvious settings are exposure and gain, but offset and colour balance settings should also be the same. In particular, if the dark frames used a different offset then that will lead ...

Re: Straight reticle
Hi,
if you click on the image with the right mouse button you can adjust the orienation of the cross hair reticule from 45 degrees to any angle you like. You can also use this right button technique to adjust other reticules (see https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Reticules)
cheers,
Robin
