Re: Hardware profiles

Hi Louis, SharpCap 4.0 has the ability to have separate profiles with different settings for things like selected focuser, filter wheel, etc. https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/sharpcap-downloads/4-0-beta You need to run SharpCap with command line options to activate an alternate profile - for inst...

Re: Additive dark/flat application

Hi, thanks for the screenshots! I can see that for each of the screenshots that have a strong stretch in the vicinity of the histogram peaks (B1 and A1) there is reverse vignetting visible. For the other screenshots the stretch is either weaker (B2, A3) or not positioned over the histogram peaks (A2...

Re: A brief introduction to the SharpCap Sequencer

Hi Gordon, try adjusting the gain block with the camera that you intend to work with open in SharpCap - the problem with gain is that for 99% of cameras it is a number (for instance 100 to 3000), but for a small minority it's something like 'ISO 100' or 'ISO 200'. If the camera is open then SharpCap...

Re: Filter wheel interface

Hi, I think I spotted the same error when I was looking at the ways to highlight the filter wheel button even when disabled - basically the filter wheel buttons do not update when the wheel position is changed from the sequencer (or from Python Scripting). I've now fixed the problem with the buttons...

Re: ZWO ASI294MM Pro SDK Update

Hi, an indirect approach would be to set the maximum exposure time to a lower value - the gain=0 solution will require longer exposures, so by a careful choice of max exposure time you can exclude this from the brain results. Another choice is to read off the suggestions manually from the brain grap...

Re: Version for linux

VirtualBox might be an option - run a small Windows virtual machine inside your Linux PC, just for SharpCap.

You can definitely connect USB devices to the virtualbox Windows instance - I have done this for various testing scenarios.

cheers,

Re: Strange Image

Hi John, the stack output for colour cameras always is RGB - that's because the stacking process requires the image to be translated and/or rotated to fit it on top of the other images that have already been stacked. To do that translation/rotation you need to convert the RAW image (GBRG etc) into a...

Re: "Disconnect" Live Stack Histogram from Display Histogram Stretch?

Hi, I suppose that you could imagine an on/off checkbox for the display stretch histogram, but in general my usage of that tends to be mostly either 'Auto stretch' or 'Reset' - it's rare that I adjust it manually beyond the autostretch (or the slightly secret autostretch modifiers - CTRL for more st...

Re: Questions about Japanese localization of SharpCapUserManual

Hi, honestly, that's not really something I can do - the reason is that the legal agreement contains clauses that are designed to ensure that I have no liability if someone uses SharpCap for something illegal (and I'm sure you can appreciate that there are *many* illegal things that a video capture ...

Re: Debayering on ASI533MC

Ah, I see....

the individual frames are FITS, and SharpCap saves them with a ROWORDER=TOP-DOWN field (which is a new FITS standard and implies the pattern is reversed), but the reload of those fits was ignoring the ROWORDER. I have a fix for the next 4.0 update.

cheers,

Robin
