Re: Sharpcap mount control
Hi, probably best to try to find someone who has already gone down the cable route for your model of mount (either here or on some other forums) to check that the cables work and which software you need to use with them. You should be able to persuade Synscan to talk to your mount via the correct ca...

Re: Change exposure slider - Count down timer goes negative
Hi, cheap USB hubs are a bit of a lottery when it comes to component quality and reliability. They will likely all work well for low speed devices that just send a bit of data (filter wheels, focusers, etc), but cameras can be an issue. If testing without a hub shows that the cameras work then the b...

Re: How Do I (or can I?) change the default stacking time for Smart HIstogram
Hi, yes, there's a 'Total stacking time' dropdown where you can choose a selection of lengths like 30min and 2hr and so on. However, that won't actually change the recommended exposure/gain settings - all it will do is alter the number of frames that are going to be captured and change the graph tha...

Re: Change exposure slider - Count down timer goes negative
Hi, Ok, thanks for the info. The negative count usually indicates that an expected frame from the camera is 'overdue', which can happen due to a variety of causes, but one thing that is definitely worth checking is the USB connection... If you are using any long cables/hubs/extensions, remove them a...

Re: Sharpcap mount control
Hi, if you want to use a cable then there are a couple of choices for ASCOM driver - EQMOD which is well tested and reliable but getting a little long in the tooth and Green Swamp Server which is a much newer option. I have used both with my EQ6 and had good results from them. Just one more thought ...

Re: Guiding during the eclipse
Hi, the center of mass tracking will definitely try to center the bright crescent in view during the partial parts of the eclipse, which will push the sun off-center and probably isn't what you want. If you have surface detail visible (sunspots, etc) then the surface tracking will probably do a bett...

Re: Sequencer issue
Ok, I have tracked down the issue to a logic error in the sequencer code - when no camera is selected it was incorrectly waiting for the camera to restart after changing the selected device (should only do that if a camera is active). I have a fix that will be in next week's update. I think you coul...

Re: Slew to target after Polar Align
Hi, Geoff has pretty much covered the most likely causes - ie * Wrong latitude/longitude setup for the mount in the ASCOM driver * Wrong home position (should read Dec=+90 and HA=6 when in the home position of scope up, weights down, pointing north) * Also potentially - incorrect time Did you rememb...

Re: Image quality and ROI.
Hi, the FPS tends to matter most for targets that change relatively quickly (Jupiter rotation or solar prominences). For relatively slowly changing targets like the Moon or Saturn, you can always capture for longer to get enough frames, and reduce the exposure as far as required to freeze the seeing...

Re: Sequencer issue
Hi, it looks like it is timing out waiting for the change in selected switch to complete, which is odd since it should be a fairly simple operation (especially as you don't have a camera open). I will have to test a similar setup myself and see if I can reproduce the issue or not. Will get back to y...
