Re: When starting SharpCap
Hi, that's odd - your last log above shows the focuser selected Info 11:30:52.305658 #1 Connecting to focuser Pegasus Astro Focus Controller 2 However, with Unity installed, I don't see that name in the list of available focusers Screenshot 2024-05-28 145229.png All the ASCOM entries from Unity have...

Re: Focusing-Positive (Outward)
Hi, so, ideally, you don't touch the hand controller and do both the movement of the focuser and the measurement of the quality of focus from within SharpCap. This will let SharpCap build up a graph of quality of focus against different focuser positions - either guiding you to best focus or finding...

Re: When starting SharpCap
Hi, can you just confirm if you are using the latest 'Pegasus Unity' or some older version of their ASCOM driver to talk to your focuser? The name recorded in your log doesn't match the focuser names seen when I install unity, so I am wondering if this is an older ASCOM driver that is no longer bein...

Re: Solar Mosaic - Feedback
Hi, There are two things I can think of for the drift here that might explain it 1) If the drift is gradual, then it may be backlash being taken up by the mount's tracking motion in the RA direction. The fix for this would be to increase the backlash allowance in the mosaic setup, so that SharpCap w...

Re: Automatic focusing with ZWO EAF
Hi,
no, SharpCap always needs ASCOM to control focuser devices (whether they are ZWO or other manufacturers).
cheers,
Robin

Re: New Feature : Support for ASCOM Cover/Calibrator devices
Hi,
are you using the ASCOM driver in NINA, or are you using the direct support that I think NINA has for this device via the Alnitak SDK? If you have been using the direct support, can you try using the ASCOM driver approach in NINA please.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Mele Quieter 4C and Planetary Imaging?
Hi,
what camera are you planning on using? A lot depends on the resolution of the camera, especially for live stacking, and the CPU in that PC is relatively slow.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Dither whilst recording a SER
Hi, you will need to use the advanced sequence editor if you want to achieve that - normally, SharpCap will try to arrange for dither operations to happen between captured frames, so that the captured images are not affected by mount movements. This either means the camera must run in still mode, or...

Re: Smart Histogram Bug ?
Ah, then in this case it's more or less a coincidence - the ASI533 has unity gain at gain 100 (roughly speaking), which is also the gain level where the camera switches from LCG to HCG mode. The lowest gain in HCG mode is often where you find the maximum dynamic range, so the two happen to coincide ...

Re: Sync & ReCenter
Hi, good to hear that you have had such good service from Starizona (always good to find businesses that are really there to help their customers). Also that the results are improving too! Interesting about the cone error correction... We have observed that the mount is trying to move to a different...
