Re: Capturing flat frames

Hi, that histogram in the screenshot is showing that all of the pixels on the camera are 100% saturated - ie the image is badly overexposed. What looks like a vertical axis on the right hand side is actually the peak in the histogram graph, and you can also see the numeric readouts of the mean of ea...

Re: Why didn't my images get saved?

Sorry about the delay in spotting this post and approving it... It's hard to be 100% sure about the cause of the problem with no frames being saved from the description above. If you can find and share the SharpCap log file from the session where the problem happened (SharpCap should keep log files ...

Re: Capturing flat frames

Hi, it took me a while to work out what is going on here, but I think I see... When you try to capture flat frames, it shows the histogram automatically to try to help you get good exposure of your flat frames and avoid under/over exposed areas. The histogram will prompt you to perform sensor analys...

Re: Focuser issue uncovers log "can of worms"

Hi Chris, glad that worked as planned - the slight pause while it waits long enough to be convinced that the previous larger move had finished is to be expected with the new workaround. I suppose that I could do something to reduce the amount of time waited if the current position actually matches t...

Re: New Feature : Planetary Live Stacking

So I am in the middle of the Mars occultation and I cannot believe how easy it has been... Click auto sharpen -perfect. Click auto adjust brightness/ color - perfect for both Mars and the Moon. Stack count of fifty keeps Mars round and the not overexposed. Both save as buttons right where I want th...

Re: Pointing with Star name and ser filename

Hi, ah, OK... You cannot specify the SER file name exactly - SharpCap will generate names for SER files based on the options selected in the 'Filenames' tab of the sharpcap settings window. The sequencer cannot override these settings, but can influence them by setting the target name option and pot...

Re: Livestacking: Cloud rushes through image

Hi, oddly, the image that you attached solves cleanly for me without any problems (to a position near the north celestial pole). I can see various attempts to plate solve with different tools in the log and lots of problems with low star counts (both from Astap plate solving and from live stacking)....

Re: Pointing with Star name and ser filename

Hi, the filename that gets created can take the name of the target from the 'Target Name' box in the toolbar at the top of the SharpCap window. As well as setting this name manually, you can set it when you use the GOTO Target tool and also via the sequencer. Using the advanced sequence editor, you ...

Re: Collimation aid in the planetary live stacker

Hi Mike, thanks for reminding me of this one - interestingly I already had a sticky note on my desk labelled 'Collimation' today following some discussions I had at an Abingdon Astronomy Society meeting last night, so both of your suggestions are timely. While the square root would introduce a non-l...
