Re: Dithering

Hi, If you install the very latest update of 3.2 (which is not available via the auto update yet), you will find an extra option in the dithering section that when ticked will cause SharpCap to reduce the exposure to 1 second while the dithering is taking place. The exposure should be put back up to...

Re: Suggestion: Flats to include camera name

Hi Tom, The goal of capturing a flat frame is to determine the relative intensity of light on each part of the sensor under even illumination. If you think that the signal that comes from the camera is basically made up of two parts – a constant offset and an image partner depends on brightness, ill...

Re: CPWI and Sharpcap RA/Dec Do Not Match

Hi Curtis Yes, I'd agree with you that they've made an odd decision there, especially since they could have made the ASCOM driver work in J 2000 and then configured it so that it reported that it was using J 2000 and everything would work fine and been consistent… Hope that your shoulder recovers qu...

Re: Can I use existing .FITS files collected by another application?

Hi Don,

Yes, you can use the virtual folder monitor camera to make SharpCap read the existing image files one at a time and basically process them as if they had come from a camera. More documentation here space –https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/3.2/#Virtual%20Cameras

Re: Troubleshooting Polar Alignment

Hi, If you are using the same equipment – camera, guide scope etc. and the same camera settings and plenty of stars are being detected then one of the things to consider is whether your initial position is actually close enough to the pole when you are trying this when out and about. It's probably e...

Re: CPWI and Sharpcap RA/Dec Do Not Match

Hi, Actually, SharpCap displays the value that the mount reports, which may be J2000 or JNOW depending on what the author of the mount's Ascom driver has chosen. It looks in this case as though the author has decided to report the coordinates by the Ascom driver in JNOW coordinates. The only time th...

Re: Suggestion: Flats to include camera name

Hi, gain and exposure are unimportant when using flats (you can take them with completely different values to the lights without ill effect). The important thing is that the optical train (scope, reducer/flattener/barlow, filter, camera) is unchanged between flats and lights which means you tend not...

Re: How do I get a 25fps AVI?

Hi, currently this is not possible in SharpCap, but the framerate is just an entry in the AVI file headers, so there may be software that will allow you to update this after the AVI file has been written ( I found this by a quick web search - http://www.am-soft.ru/avifrate.html - but have not tried ...
