Re: Request for a new FITS keyword

Hi, I created a test file with the header in without changing anything else in SharpCap's FITS writing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tK289iSnXVMmtVst3wkUuc4taGf_cTAL/view?usp=sharing Any observations on flaws in the headers welcome - The problem I have found is that different processing applicati...

Re: Misleading live stacking bit depth display

Okay, thanks - will see what can be done.

I have a feeling that it was fractional once and maybe that got lost when Sigma clipping got added in.

Hi,

there's an 'Options' button on the first page of the installer and you can change the install location in there.

Re: Timestamp issue w/QHY174GPS

Hi,

actually, the SharpCap manual doesn't mention this – it was probably something that I added when we were improving the GPS camera support for the new Horizons occultation mission. I think the best documentation so far as the above forums post :-)

Re: Guide and Imaging Camera Alignment

Hi Martin, the answer is no – you don't need to perfectly align your guide scope/camera with the RA axis to get the polar alignment to work properly. How can this be? SharpCap looks for the point in the image that the stars appear to rotate around to find the place where the RA axis is currently poi...

Re: QHY5III462 not detected.

Hi, excellent – I deliberately run the auto update version somewhat behind so that I don't accidentally send out a new version that may have significant bug in it to a large number of users. Unfortunately with me focusing on SharpCap 3.3 recently it's got a bit further behind than usual. Another thi...

Re: Smart Histogram not working when using ASCOM drivers for camera

Hi, I think the right approach is to set the white balance levels to 50-50 and then save that as a default capture profile for the camera. Quite why ZWO set the blue level so high by default in the SDK I'm not quite sure. All I can think is that those settings give a reasonable set up for capturing ...

Re: QHY294C cannot perform sensor analysis

Hi Peter, thanks for the info – I will stop SharpCap from trying to set values for the colour balance controls on start-up. At one point it was necessary because the default set by the SDK were wrong for certain cameras, but maybe now it is doing more harm than good. I think the biggest problem with...
