Re: Capturing Flats

Hi,

it's untested with the folder monitor camera in 3.2. If you leave the option to auto-subract a dark/bias then it will likely fail as it will want to control the camera exposure and can't. If you pre-set-up your dark subtraction then you may be OK.

cheers,

Robin

Re: SharpCap 3.2 Beta now available

Hi, this is actually an option you can turn off - https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/2.9/#Start%20cameras%20with%20%E2%80%98Auto%E2%80%99%20output%20format%20(for%20supported%20cameras). When the option is turned on, SharpCap will auto select a video format for shorter exposures (less than 5s from memory) ...

Re: Displaying Full Screen Image

Hi, There is a new feature in SharpCap 3.2 that is very close to this - the new feature works with 2 monitors connected and allows you to put the image full screen on the second monitor while you see the controls still on the primary monitor. Currently you can find beta builds of SharpCap 3.2 by fol...

Re: I can't install my license! Help!

So, I already have code to disable DPI awareness in SharpCap, which should mean it just gets scaled up to look like it would on a low DPI monitor (otherwise I seem to recall the reports said that some bits were the right size and some bits too small). It looks like there may be other ways to disable...

Re: QHY8 start up - error now being given?

Hi, I have now spent some more time reviewing the information that you sent regarding this error - what I can see is the following. 1) SharpCap's first attempt to connect to the camera fails - SharpCap asks the camera to connect and it gives an error 2) Because the connection attempt fails, SharpCap...

Re: Alt drifts when making az adjustments and vice versa

Hi, there are two possible causes for this 1) SharpCap has got a poor estimate of your longitude from your time zone and is therefore not managing to convert RA/Dec co-ordinates into Altitude and Azimuth correctly. If you are using SharpCap 3.1 then you can set your Lat/Long for polar alignment in t...

Re: Mismatch between SharpCap and PHD2 polar error

Hi, I am always interested in getting feedback from people who see this sort of problem. I have seen a handful of reports of this sort of measurement. In two or three cases we have tracked it down to flexure or bearing issues in the mount leading to poor rotation. In most cases however I have not he...

Re: Capturing Flats

Hi, a flat is a single frame that is captured with flat field illumination. A 'master' flat is an average of many such frames. SharpCap will automatically create a master flat for you by capturing the number of frames you specify and averaging them. The number to use depends on the gain you are usin...

Re: I can't install my license! Help!

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood your initial post and I now see it's connected to your post about the blank dialogs on the Microsoft Surface devices. I don't have any devices with high DPI displays to test with, but I have had reports from other users that the program worked with a small number of minor ...

Re: Capturing Flats

Hi Greg, the goal when setting up a flat capture is mainly to get the histogram to be mostly in the right-hand half of the graph but ***without*** touching the right hand side. If you have to choose between the two then allow it to be somewhat in the left hand half of the graph but don't let it touc...
