Target Magnitude and Smart Histogram
Trying to get my head around the Smart Histogram (again). If I point at a dark area of sky, use the recommended settings and photograph M42, the results compared to photgraphing M1 would be different due to the magnitude difference of the target. Is it the case that the image then depends on the num...

Daytime Focusing using OAG
Hi I currently have a focus routine where I focus on a concrete electricity pole with may main camera and then with my guide camera in the OAG with its helical focuser. I do this in the afternoon prior to an evening session. However I am thinking of attaching a ZWO EAF, is there a way I can still do...

Robin
I assumed a lower than 'peak' efficiency (-10%).
thanks

Sky Background Calculator and Quantum Efficiency
Hi
I am using the ZWO ASI 183MC Pro, the only figure I have for QE is 84% (mono sensor). Do I enter this and then select the colour button?
Thanks

Robin
I am in bortle 3 area. Last night I just had an IR/UV cut filter. It ran 10 x 30 second exposures and still no result.
thanks

Re: Histogram failure
Tried again tonight, just goes through the exposures until 30 seconds and then just takes multiple exposures with no result. Couldn't cancel it. Had to reload Sharpcap to try again with an estimated sky brightness figure entered. The calculation worked.

Histogram sky brightness measurement
Just a thought: if you are targeting one object for the night would there be any advantage to measuring whilst aiming at that part of the sky or am I missing something. By no means a rarity.
If not do you have a favourite location for measurement?

Re: Smart Histogram and Focal Ratio
Well obviously
I thought that there was some relationship but never saw anything written down.
The potential for shorter subs is a joy to those of us whose age brings with it less efficient bladders and, other such inconveniences.
