Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Robin, Thank you for your kind offer of help. I went back to Robert who wrote the whole app and the ASCOM driver too and asked him how to do this. He sent me this video https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eVuF-l4ARjYJOaWJwErIdmbrjln6UIdp/view?usp=sharing and, after an hour of fiddling, I managed to pro...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Robin, I am sorry to trouble you again. I cannot make VS 2013 produce a working DLL. It makes a DLL every time but when I try to use the ASCOM driver I get an error from ASCOM. It is only the new DLL file that causes this. I put the original backand away it goes. Edit: I just discovered that using t...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Robin, That definitely helps me. My first try did not work, SharpCap refused to connect to the filter wheel with the new dll in the folder, so I'll quote Thomas Edison, "“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” However I'm at fail-one so, this may take a while, but I am...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

1. I got the Arduino .ino script fixed. My son finished it within a day. He did a good job. I al so had him code for two pushbutton switches. One to return the filter wheel to the Home (Slot 0) position and another to advance the filetr slot by one position. Bother switches make sure that ASCOM know...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Hi Robin, Thanks very much for the tip. I'll have a go at it this weekend. I have asked my son to fix the Arduino code for me and having given him a small amount of money he is going to do it - it's what Dad's do... Once it is complete and it works as I want, Optical indexing working, a push button ...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Sharpcap must be a huge project. It is an amazing achievement to have conceived and written it. I am unsurprised it takes up much of your time. I am hacking at the code myself. My son who's 39 is a a bit of a whizz at Arduino programming says he'll help me but he too is up to his eyeballs in work an...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Hi Robin, Here's a couple more pics of the project. https://photos.app.goo.gl/B2YJNdcNrJYj9CxS8 To answer your question, right now I am using a simple step count to position the filters. The original design calls for a white LED and a Light Dependent Resistor to accurately position the filters. A pi...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Hi Robin, Thank you for doing the research into the ASCOM driver code. I only realised just what you had done after I followed your route to the relevant line in the code. Amazing. I wanted a motorised filter wheel and did not wish to pay the money for a ZWO or other ready made wheel. The hardware i...

Re: Set FIlter Colours Manually

Thanks Robin. It does not actually help me but you have explained the problem. Now maybe I can edit and re-compile the ASCOM driver with my filter assignment. It is a clumsy work around but it IS a workable work around so thank you again.

Set FIlter Colours Manually

I just finished building an ASCOM filter Wheel changer. I based it on a Chinese metal 5 position filter holder and Robert Brown's unfinished work myFIlterWheelASCOM DIY https://sourceforge.net/projects/myfilterwheel-ascom-diy/ . The mechanical was the most challenging part. However now it works well...
