Re: NGC 5430, a Wolf-Rayet galaxy

How interesting! I like imaging the WR stars in our own galaxy - or rather the nice OIII- bright nebulae that they tend to slough off and illuminate around themselves. You are good at digging up these little gems of information Menno. thanks Tim

Re: Local galaxies. 10s frame luminance to add sharpness to colour

Many thanks Dave and Menno. Firstly I must confess that I swapped out and replaced the original M51 images with better ones which included even more luminance frames. The details of this and of the processing are appended below .. There are two things here that I think play into two discussions mean...

Local galaxies. 10s frame luminance to add sharpness to colour

Following on from https://forums.sharpcap.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=7711 have extended the 'semi-lucky imaging' approach of stacking multiple selected 10s frames followed by RC BlurExterminator to get high quality luminance with which to better inform the resolution of colour OSC images of M51, M101 and...

Re: Hi-res DSO imaging with live-stacked "subs"?

Interested in this because it is what I have been trying with Sharpcap also. I'd say that SC already supports soing that. Actually inspired by Robin's lecture and the realization that under my B7 skies sky noise was always going to vastly exceed read noise and that it really is feasible to stack lot...

and after EEA - real imaging with all the saved frames

Just to show that beyond the pleasure of the initial EEA -- the individual frames that Sharpcap co-saves along with the autostacks do not go to waste. Here is the result of stacking about 1200 x 10s frames of M51 from the past two nights. I will be adding the below as luminance into a colour image i...

Re: Interaction between FWHM and frame brightness estimates

That's great to learn Robin. plus I also remain interested in the photometry application for tracking variables and suchlike

Interaction between FWHM and frame brightness estimates

I have noticed - more times than can be coincidence - that - especially with rather dim individual frames associated with short exposures - the FWHM estimate often varies with brightness. i.e. amongst a series of consecutive frames of varying brightness (e.g. thin high cloud passing over) higher sig...

Re: High res "EEA" with SC autostacks + Blur Xt

Thank you Xio, Indeed that is true and the other - probably unique - thing with Robin is that he takes the time not only to address any bugs but to also engage us in suggesting/ prioritising new features. SC 4.1 is a toolkit packed with features covering a wide variety of interests. Tim

High res "EEA" with SC autostacks + Blur Xt

Whether the below really counts as EEA I am not quite sure -- but it does seem extraordinary that technology has advanced so rapidly over these past few years that it is now possible to observe four or more objects - in this case local galaxies - in really very high detail from a Bortle 7 back garde...
