Re: Motion Detection
Thanks Robin The lens has a wide-open aperture (a telescope) so the depth of field is small, meaning the background is blurred. I'm also trying to align things such that the background isn't too busy. If a living nebula (e.g. a Robin) appears and is in reasonably good focus this might work. I was un...

Motion Detection
Heresy, yes... Let's face it, it is cloudy 94.57% of the time. We astronomers play with our gear, wistfully imagining that the skies might one day clear up enough to perhaps see the moon. I have personally taken to shooting images of hummingbirds with a small refractor, a ZWO camera and SharpCap. Si...

Re: Change default region of interest options
Thanks Robin! Now that you mention it... I've seen that "custom" option before. I just didn't see it with this camera because the default list is so long. This will allow me to experiment to find a good balance between file size, vignetting and field of view. GammaCassiopeiae p.s. Sorry ab...

Change default region of interest options
Greetings, I just received a ZWO ASI6200MC Pro full-frame camera, an expensive new toy. I bolted it onto the front of my RASA-8 on July 30, waited for the rain to end, and held my breath. One of the test images from "first light" is here (resized to avoid breaking the internet): http://sha...

Re: Live Stack not saving in correct folder
I have had a lot of trouble with naming folders, but I just downloaded the 64 bit new version of SharpCap and it appears that the problems have been completely resolved (at least from my perspective).
Thanks for that!!!

Re: Colour Stack, one channel individuals
Did I mention I was a beginner? ! This was very helpful. I managed to de-bayer the apparent greyscale files to create colour versions. Then I managed to stack them. Since much of this was done for the first time I'm not sure the new version is better, but at least I have the principals down now. Tha...

Re: Colour Stack, one channel individuals
Thanks for the reply. The stacked files are "FITS" format in a directory …/capture/00_00_11, and the raw frames are FITS format, in a directory called …/capture/00_00_11/rawframes. The raw frame FITS files are one-third the size of the stacked ones, and clearly don't contain the colour inf...

Colour Stack, one channel individuals
Greetings, I'm a relatively new user of Sharpcap... I took a set of 50 images with a brand new ZWO ASI294MC Pro camera on Friday night. They were live stacked in Sharpcap, and the result appeared quite good. I had selected "Save Individual Frames". Output format is FITS. https://www.astrob...
