M57 : my very first LRGB image

This is my very first LRGB image . 20 minutes total on each filter , 8 second frames on luminance , 24 second frames on R , G , and B . Taken with SharpCapPro and an ES127 refractor with QHY183 , aligned and registered with DeepSkyStacker , and processed with StarTools . Guiding wasn't great but wit...

Re: Reprocessed M27 with a twist

I love the "balance" you've achieved with this image . I think if we could see it with our own eyes , it would look very close to what you've shown , here . Very , very inspiring ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: erratic FWHM within livestack

Chris , that could have been . I look up at the sky , once in a while ; but since I'm watching the computer so much , my eyes never adapt to the dark ; so thin clouds are harder to see ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: erratic FWHM within livestack

Thank you very much , for your guidance ( and for making SharpCapPro ) On this occasion , I could not improve my focus ; and so very late into my session , I began to think that something was amiss with the FWHM measurement ; but I was slow to come to this conclusion , because , in the past , I've i...

I thought , for both images , that "everything looked pretty good".

erratic FWHM within livestack

Hey All , I never had this issue before ; but last Thursday night while using livestack to image , my FWHM kept reading high , throughout the night . I always monitor the FWHM tab ; and I usually get great results with a limit set around 4 . When the score would exceed my limit , I would stop and at...

Re: Another M51

Thanks Nick . You are right . I should dither more often , as well . My background would have looked improved . But I was anxious to get as much exposure as I could get , before the clouds rolled in . There are so many settings combinations to try . I just don't fully understand what I am doing yet .

Re: Venus with Altair 183M & 2x Barlow

The planets just scare me . I have a QHY5III290 that would work well for planets ; but I'm using it for a guide scope ; and I just now got everything working ; so I'm scared to touch anything .

Re: Another M51

Brian , thanks very much for your answers . I really like the color book analogy . I hope to one day , try my hand at LRGB imaging ; but right now , I'm super happy just to finally "see" detail in the galaxies that I've stared at , all my life , through an eyepiece . I never imagined that ...
