Re: SharpCap Polar Alignment with PHD2 complaint.

Hi Brian, Around four mins to get past the 3 min PHD2 recommendation. I have always had a strange difference in PHDs PA measure but it has tripled in recent days. The weather forecast is bleak so it is going to take time to test your suggestion. I have bit the bullet and bought a bigger mount as I w...

Re: SharpCap Polar Alignment with PHD2 complaint.

Hi, did you find and check out the polar alignment troubleshooting checklist? https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/features/polar-alignment/polar-alignment-troubleshooting The most common cause of bad alignment when SharpCap says it is good is if something is shifting as you rotate the telescope aro...

Re: SharpCap Polar Alignment with PHD2 complaint.

Hi Stephen, I too had the same problem. It turned out that I did not adequately lock the altitude of the polar axis after PA. Brian Hi Brian, Thanks. That's interesting. I tend to not adjust the front altitude thread all that much. I generally only adjust the back thread and don't play much with th...

SharpCap Polar Alignment with PHD2 complaint.

Greetings everyone. I have a problem that just could be my stupidity. I use SharpCap to do polar alignment (PA) using a small guide scope and camera (ZWO ASI 120MC-S with a 30F4). That system is superfluous (from my Star Adventurer days) so I thought it would be good at PA given its seemingly good r...

Re: Sky Background Calculator and Quantum Efficiency

Hi Robin

Thanks for the response.

I will have a look at the smart histogram functionality. I have so much going on in setting up the process I almost need a checklist. I am trying to get a good spreadsheet together to give me ideal exposure times.

Regards

Stephen

Re: Sky Background Calculator and Quantum Efficiency

Hi Robin, I was wondering about what impact the moon has on the sky background calculator. Surely a full moon would have a significant impact on the calculations. I have a cousin who lives in a the darkest skies area I know and I try to take advantage of this location compared to my Bortle 5 skies. ...

Re: Sensor analysis

Hi Robin, Thanks for the response. I am using the latest downloaded version of SharpCap. The problem is when I do the second part of the sensor analysis where SharpCap drops the exposure time down below the 6 microseconds the camara has as a min exposure. I don't know if what I do to adjust the illu...

Re: Sensor analysis

I was able to start it and it was going nicely for the first part. Then when doing the second part, it complained that the needed exposure was shorter than the min exposure of the camera (QYH 163C). This took a LOT of lighting adjustment settings. I finally was able to use my LED head lamp for a lig...

Re: Sensor analysis

I discovered the problem. The (invisible to the naked eye when not zoomed in) rectangle inside the two arrows was high but had no width. After zooming in, I could see it needed to be adjusted width wise.

Sensor analysis

Greetings, I have searched on this but nothing meaningful is returned. I am trying to do Sensor Analysis on my QHY 163C and when I started the process, I moved the two little red arrows (that form some area) to another area and then started the Sensor Analysis again but it complains about "Sele...
