Re: detecting a Supernova with SC stacking twinked

Thanks Robin. It seems a Mirical that I can and do use SC for stacking. That feature needs no improvement. Yes, I had considered the Two conditions you mentioned under which SC could fail if not some ability to ignore change had not been pre-programmed into it. I have a hunch that what I'm looking f...

detecting a Supernova with SC stacking twinked

I'm wondering if what I'm asking about does not already exist in some form or another. Imagine that back on may 19th I was stacking on M 101. Perhaps I had 33 already stacked with none being rejected. Then in less than one minute (Iwas stacking with 36 second exposures) a new star is born. Just one ...

Re: polar alignment

Thanks Robin. I feel 99% certain there is this misalignment you and I have mentioned, "SharpCap polar alignment will not be affected by the telescope tube not being aligned with the RA axis,". I've been absorbed by this possibility for at least 2 months. My reason for being so interested i...

polar alignment

For years I have been using a method of centering on the CNP by framing very close to it (within .5 degrees) and taking a 6 minute high gain exposure that reveals the circular star trails. That is just enough exposure to see 'arcs' which point out where the CNP is located. The CNP is located in a sm...

SC User Manual updates

I always up date my SC when I'm informed that a new program (system?) is available. I guess that in the past two years I have 'up dated' 3 times. I'm wondering if the SC User Manual is brought up to date each time? If it is, I think rereading it would be worth my time. One thing I have noticed that ...

Re: I can't find a stacked image of M27 in my Fits Lib. File

Dave, in closing I will try send you a picture of M42 that I took with my converted (to equatorial) GoTo mount (a Celestron SKYprodogy). It is not a staked picture. It was taken while stacking by selecting TAKE EXACTLY AS SEEN, while using Live Stacking, which gives a very nice color picture. On thi...

Re: I can't find a stacked image of M27 in my Fits Lib. File

Dave, Ive been looking forward to that Tutorial on stacking you mentioned that you would post (I guess) on this forum about Stacking but have I missed it somehow? I recently converted my GoTo mount to an equatorial mount by turning its normal vertical axis over on its side enough to point at Polaris...

Re: Live Stack Mosaic Horse and Flame

Thank you for this great reply. It has certainly warned me that a simple dew cap might not be enough for a lot of places. I have just received from High Point Scientific their "in house" star finder scope for my Celestron Astromaster 130 (five and a half inch mirror) and have not till now ...

Re: Live Stack Mosaic Horse and Flame

Where are you guys putting these dew heaters on? I am aware of dew heaters being applied to eye pieces but are you getting them around the main refractor lens up at the front end of the telescope, or some other places? Carl

Thank you Robin.

I will get started on removing the licence text entirely from the licence window very soon. Carl
