I check the box in Sharpcap Settings\Edit Filename Templates Manually. What happens then?

How do I actually use the filename templates to name files.

Is that a flattener in front of the filter wheel that I see?

Could it be used without a filter wheel, in from of the cameram as long as one can figure out a way to attach it?
