Re: Andromeda Core Dust Lane Detail

Thanks Robin, and SharpCap makes this possible via the live stack capabilities including such excellent control of the camera functions. I’m enjoying this so much now. Also, the live display on the laptop screen provides a wonderful way to share with my friends and neighbors while the image is being...

Andromeda Core Dust Lane Detail

Andromeda Dust Lane Detail 8-19-2020 low-res.jpg Andromeda is beautiful in wider field images, but in this case I wanted a close in look at the details of the dust lanes near the core. This image was acquired 19-August 2020. Starmaster hybrid truss Dobsonian reflector, 14.5" f4.3 Zambuto mirro...

Re: Herbig-Haro objects in the Pelican Nebula

Fabulous image! Thanks for taking the time to acquire it, and to share the details. I have recently started using the same camera and am extremely impressed with its capabilities.

Cheers and clear skies,

Ron

Re: Live Stack With Planetary Images

Very nice images in the links, and thanks again for sharing the information on Autostakkert + Registax - A test today shows easy processing of the 16-bit RAW SER test file. I will forever benefit from the advice on Registax wavelet processing parameters and steps. I’m at 42.8-deg latitude so a bit b...

Thanks again Dave for the post of the techniques using Autostakkert and Registax. I reprocessed the AVI file to obtain this image, which is a better result to my eyes.

Re: Live Stack With Planetary Images

Understood. Best frames captured fast during calm moments in between moments of turbulence is the way to do it. Tonight with Jupiter so low to the horizon where turbulence is strong it was especially important. This was my 1st go at this using SharpCap with a 60-sec quick capture. I used the 24RGB f...

Re: Live Stack With Planetary Images

I want to echo the enthusiasm expressed in the original post. My neighbors were treated (me too) to a beautiful live view of Neowise during livestack where they could see it on the computer screen, and then look to that part of the sky and not see it except with binoculars. They were blown away. Reg...

Re: Comet NEOWISE

I’m enjoying and learning from the discussion in all these posts. I’ve always seen comet photos that either showed the comet clear and tracked well with star trails, or sharp stars with blurry comet. I love the colors in Bruce’s image, and both stars and comet are sharp/clear. Using SharpCap livesta...

Re: Comet NEOWISE

Nice shot for low in the sky and using DSLR. Here in Midwest US I hear folks saying it’s a naked eye object now but they must have dark skies and fully unobstructed horizon view. I was able to find a “window” of low horizon viewing near home but light polluted skies. The attached photo shows two ima...
