Diant and everyone

Thank you all, I have plenty to work with now. I'll check back with future attempts to resolve this issue

Re: Streaks in my image

Diant, I can’t thank you enough for the detailed process you've supplied. A few questions if you don’t mind. 1.) I’m not exactly sure in #6 when you say, “…not very large value…” What would be an example of a large value vs. a not large value? 2.) In #8 you say that I can move the star. Since I have...

Re: Streaks in my image

Brian,

I'm just beginning to get my hands around all this, but I believe the ADU for the ZWO294 is (read noise) 1.2e @35db gain. And yes, these were 2 second images.

I don't believe dithering is possible with my Alt/Az mount, but I may be mistaken.

Thanks for helping,
Joe

Streaks in my image

I'm just getting acquainted to my Hyperstar and ZWO294 MC Pro. Last night I noticed a very faint streaking in the image. If anyone has any idea what's causing this and what I can do about it I would greatly appreciate the feedback.

Re: Hyperstar set up: spacers or no spacers?

A friend solved this for me. According to him, the Hyperstar would have been constructed to fit my camera. Since Starizona said to flaten out the unit (i.e., no spacers), that is what I shall do.

Hyperstar set up: spacers or no spacers?

There are two schools of though on how to align Hyperstar prior to collimation. 1.) Some say to use spacers (i.e., for example, three pennies) to create an equidistant space between the Hyperstar and its base. Dave at Starizona says to start with the HyperStar down flat (no spacers), back out the ta...

Re: What's causing these "bubble" shapes, I think they're stars out of focus???

I believe that Brian's suggestion to leave everything attached and cover the scope with a sheet when done for the night is probably the best way to ensure no inadvertent collimation issues, however, I'm totally neurotic and since my scope is set up in my living room and I enjoy gazing at it, having ...
