maximum resolution

I apologize for this question (seems I should know this). A friend advising me on taking flats suggested I use RGB24 with maximum resolution for my ZWO294 camera. What and how do I set maximum resolution in Sharpcap?

Thank you,
Joe

Collimation: first experience with artificial star

Last night was the first night I tried to use my Hubble Artificial Star. I used a Celestron SCT 8" with my ZWO294 camera connected directly to the OTA. Although I had success (see image), I'm wondering if this degree of collimation is adequate? Should I have used a 2x barlow between my camera and th...

collimation: artificial star vs street light 1.5 miles away

I just ordered the Hubble artificial star in order to collimate, however, I just read where one person was using a street light two miles away. I do have a radio tower with very bright red lights on top that's at least 1.5 miles away (I live on a hill), which would be best to use for collimation? Th...

Re: Vignetting is horrible

Thank you so much Robin.

That was exactly what I needed to hear, i.e., a path forward. I look forward to implementing your suggestions.

Vignetting is horrible

I'm new to EAA and still getting my feet wet. And still trying not to get too discouraged. I'm assuming this is a terrible vignetting problem, but I don't know what I can do about it. Flats are supposed to help/eliminate vignetting (my flat taken with SharpCap and a light-pad, had a histogram that w...

bit depth warning

I got this warning the other night in SharpCap and don't know what it means or how to remedy the problem. How does one increase bit depth?

warning: Looks like you’re taking long exposures at a bit depth of 8, you may want to increase your bit depth.

Thank you,

should I use monochrome when making a master flat?

I want to create a master flat, however I don't understand whether I should use the monochrome option with my color ASI294 camera. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to capturing the flat as a monochrome?

Much thanks,
Joe
