CTD 4.1.10910.0 when hardware not present
Robin, I have both a mount and a focuser connected through Celestron's CPWI specified as hardware within the SharpCap settings. If I neglect to deselect the "Connect Hardware Automatically When Opening Camera" option within settings when I don't have the hardware present (such as when test...

Re: How do I automate a Lunar mosaic with SC?
An automated (or at least helper) tool for doing deep sky object mosaics would be great, too!

LiveStack color balancing v.10299
I haven't had much opportunity to use the new features in the beta version due to poor weather over the last several months. Finally had an opportunity last night and encountered some issues with the color controls in the LiveStack histogram window. Moving the color sliders no longer has an effect o...

Re: New comet tracking feature C/2022 E3 (ZTF) Scottsdale, AZ
Great to hear that you may be able to try to stack the stars and the comet separately. I was going to ask if that was possible, but thought it might have been a stupid question! I like the results you can get on the comet with comet "tracking", but don't really care for the (what looks to ...

Re: Autostakkert and Sharpcap
I apologize in advance if I am not understanding the issue here correctly but if the tracking is such that the planet moves significantly with respect to the ROI, you will get a border area where parts of the image are missing (red for me with the stabilization feature off). I always check for that ...

Re: RAW8 or RAW16?
What would be considered high gain i in this discussion? I can easily get high frame rates with a small ROI with a gain around 200 with the ZWO 224 camera. Is this considered a high enough gain to cause the noise levels to be high enough to recommend using 8 bit over 16 bit captures? How about 100 g...

Capture length selection box in Seeing Monitor
The capture length selection box in the Seeing Monitor does not have any entries in it when I hit the dropdown arrow. It looks like there is room for a number of entries, but there are none. Thus, I can't select a capture length in terms of number of frames when using the filter capture feature of t...

Gradient removal background subtraction
Does the gradient removal tool also remove a constant background level from each frame? That is, does it in effect combine general background subtraction with removal of any gradients (differing background levels) in the frame? If so, does it use the blended type of offset or simple offset? Or does ...

Re: ASI294MC - Pro offset
I used the method Robin describes here for getting a good offset value. For this camera, I found that increased offsets are needed when gain is increased.
